All volunteers are required to pass a background check before working with players. You don't need to track anything down — once you register as a volunteer, you will receive an email with a link to complete your background check. Simply follow the instructions in that email to submit your information. No background check on file means no access to the field.

The safety of every child in our program is the top priority — and that responsibility falls on all of us. Little League International requires every volunteer to complete Abuse Awareness training each year. This course covers how to recognize warning signs, report concerns, and create an environment where every player feels safe. It takes about 30 minutes and must be renewed each season.

The Diamond Leader program is a free educational resource from Little League International focused on the mental, social, and emotional well-being of young athletes. Through detailed information, interactive scenarios, and real-world resources, this course helps coaches and volunteers understand the full impact they have on a child's experience — on and off the field.
